The Budapest panorama was added to the World Heritage List by UNESCO. One of the reasons these sites were selected is that the banks of the Danube at Budapest illustrate the various periods of the capital's history, and furthermore the city has one of the world's outstandingly beautiful urban cityscapes. The World Heritage site inscribed in 1987 stretched from the Chain Bridge (Clark Ádám Square) to the Technical University on the Buda side - an area containing the Gellért Baths, Mt. Gellért with its Freedom Monument and the Citadella, and also the building ensemble of the Buda Castle.
There are not many countries beside Hungary, where the art of folk-dancing is at such high artistic level. There exists even a college for studying Hungarian folk dances.
The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, the Danube Folk Ensemble and Hungaria Folk Ensemble & Orchestra are three of the best professional Hungarian folk ensembles with the longest tradition (formed in 1951, 1957, and 1952), which have performances all around the country and abroad.Read more...

Visiting Budapest is not complete without bathing in one of its world-famous thermal spring spas. The Romans had already discovered the healthy effects of the thermal springs on the locations now inside Budapest, however the culture of bath started to develop just in the Turkish times.
Since its building in 1918, the Gellért Spa was one of the most prestigious thermal baths on the Buda side of the city. Gellért spa is famous for its main hall with gallery and glass roof, built in the Art-Nouveau style, sparkling bath and open-air pool with artificial waves.
